FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS TCU ELITE DANCE?
TCU Elite Dance is TCU's competitive dance team. We are a student-run club sports team that competes at a national collegiate competition yearly, performs at select TCU Basketball games, engages in events in the Fort Worth/TCU community, and holds an annual showcase for friends and family in the Spring semester.
HOW MUCH DANCE EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED TO AUDITION?
Dance experience is necessary to be on the team and a competitive dance background is preferred. To get an idea of what skills will be expected, visit our auditions page and check out our videos from previous years!
WHAT ARE THE FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS OF BEING ON THE TEAM?
There is an initial payment of around $400 in order to pay for uniforms, costumes, competitions, etc. The second payment will depend on how much is fundraised throughout the year.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT OF BEING ON THE TEAM?
Practices are held two evenings a week from 7;30-9:30 PM, so they should not conflict with classes. Sunday practices will be added for the first part of the Spring semester as we get closer to our competition in February.
WHERE DOES THE TEAM COMPETE?
We likely compete at the College Classic in Orlando, FL.
DOES THE TEAM HAVE OTHER PERFORMANCES?
TCU Elite Dance usually performs at a Men's Basketball game during the Spring semester. We also have a Nationals Send Off performance that is open for all TCU students to watch and cheer us on. Typically, we will perform for a charity or organization like TCU Dance Marathon. Additionally, we have a Showcase at the end of each season where members can choreograph their own dances. Family and friends are invited to watch the show and celebrate the end of an amazing year together.
WHAT DOES THE TEAM DO OUTSIDE OF PRACTICE HOURS?
We are a team built on friendship and camaraderie. We host bonding events throughout the year for holidays and just for fun. We even have a team and family dinner hosted in California during the Nationals weekend. We are more than a dance team; we truly become family by the end of the season!
DOES THE TEAM HAVE A COACH?
TCU Elite Dance is run by TCU students. The coach/coaches are in charge of club president responsibilities, running and cleaning the dance for competition, and performing at nationals with the team.
DOES THE TEAM HAVE ANY OTHER LEADERSHIP ROLES BESIDES COACH AND CAPTAIN?
Yes! Team members can run for positions like Vice President of Administration, Vice President of Finance, Merchandise Chairs, and Content Creator Chairs. New positions may be added year to year.
HOW SERIOUS IS ELITE DANCE?
Elite Dance is committed to excellence and working diligently to perform our best. We value friendship, community, and having lots of fun. We love being able to continue our passion in college with teammates who are supportive and dedicated. Elite is a family and we look forward to welcoming new dancers!
